Your rights with TAROM

TAROM must follow EU261 like every other airline. If your flight arrived 3 or more hours late, was cancelled less than 14 days before departure, or you were denied boarding, you can claim compensation based on the flight distance:

Flight distanceCompensation

Up to 1,500 km

e.g. Amsterdam – London

€250

1,500 – 3,500 km, or any flight within the EU over 1,500 km

e.g. Berlin – Lisbon

€400

Over 3,500 km

e.g. Paris – New York

€600

For delays, the arrival delay at your final destination must be 3 hours or more. Long-haul delays of 3–4 hours pay 50%.

All TAROM flights departing from or arriving in the EU, EEA and Switzerland are covered.

How to claim from TAROM

You can claim yourself through tarom.ro, or let us do it. We send the claim, deal with refusals and take TAROM to court if needed, for one fee of 20% incl. VAT.

TAROM compensation: common questions

How much compensation does TAROM pay?

TAROM pays €250, €400 or €600 per passenger depending on flight distance, as set by EU261. For flights under UK261, £220, £350 or £520.

How long does TAROM take to pay?

Most airlines pay within 2 to 12 weeks of receiving a complete claim. If TAROM refuses without a valid reason, we can take legal action, which takes longer but costs you nothing extra.

Can TAROM refuse because of bad weather or a technical problem?

Severe weather can exempt TAROM, but technical problems generally can't. Airlines sometimes give a reason that doesn't hold up; we check weather and air traffic data for your flight.
