Check compensationYour rights with GOL
GOL must follow EU261 like every other airline. If your flight arrived 3 or more hours late, was cancelled less than 14 days before departure, or you were denied boarding, you can claim compensation based on the flight distance:
| Flight distance | Compensation |
|---|---|
Up to 1,500 km e.g. Amsterdam – London | €250 |
1,500 – 3,500 km, or any flight within the EU over 1,500 km e.g. Berlin – Lisbon | €400 |
Over 3,500 km e.g. Paris – New York | €600 |
For delays, the arrival delay at your final destination must be 3 hours or more. Long-haul delays of 3–4 hours pay 50%.
GOL flights departing from the EU, EEA, Switzerland or UK are covered. Flights arriving in Europe from elsewhere are not covered, because GOL is based outside the EU and UK.
How to claim from GOL
You can claim yourself through voegol.com.br, or let us do it. We send the claim, deal with refusals and take GOL to court if needed, for one fee of 20% incl. VAT.
GOL compensation: common questions
How much compensation does GOL pay?
GOL pays €250, €400 or €600 per passenger depending on flight distance, as set by EU261. For flights under UK261, £220, £350 or £520.
How long does GOL take to pay?
Most airlines pay within 2 to 12 weeks of receiving a complete claim. If GOL refuses without a valid reason, we can take legal action, which takes longer but costs you nothing extra.
Can GOL refuse because of bad weather or a technical problem?
Severe weather can exempt GOL, but technical problems generally can't. Airlines sometimes give a reason that doesn't hold up; we check weather and air traffic data for your flight.
