Frequently asked questions

Your rights

Which flights are covered?

All flights departing from an airport in the EU, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or the UK, with any airline. Flights arriving in the EU are covered when the airline is based in the EU, and flights arriving in the UK when the airline is based in the UK or EU. We also claim under Turkey's, Canada's, Israel's, Georgia's and other national passenger-rights rules, and where a law requires you to claim personally, we give you a free, ready-to-send letter.

How much compensation can I get?

€250 for flights up to 1,500 km, €400 for flights of 1,500–3,500 km (and all flights over 1,500 km within the EU), and €600 for longer flights. Under UK261 it's £220, £350 or £520. The amount is per passenger, regardless of the ticket price.

How late does my flight have to be?

At least 3 hours late at your final destination. The arrival time is when the aircraft doors open, not when the wheels touch the runway.

What are extraordinary circumstances?

Events outside the airline's control, like severe weather, air traffic control restrictions, airport strikes or security threats. Technical problems and strikes by the airline's own staff are not extraordinary, so you can still claim.

How far back can I claim?

It depends on the country: from 1 year (Belgium, Poland) to 2 years (Netherlands, Italy), 3 years (Germany, Austria) and 5–6 years (France, Spain, UK, Ireland). For flights from 23 October 2027, new EU rules require you to claim within 9 months.

Can I claim for my children?

Yes. Every passenger with a ticket, including children, is entitled to compensation. A parent or guardian signs for children under 18.

My flight was cancelled. Can I get a refund and compensation?

Yes. A refund or rebooking is a separate right from compensation. If you were told less than 14 days before departure, you can usually get both.

The claim process

What documents do I need?

Your boarding pass or booking confirmation. Some airlines also ask for a copy of your ID before they pay. That's all.

Why do I sign an assignment?

An assignment transfers the claim to us, so we can deal with the airline and go to court in our own name. It's the standard model used by the major claim companies. In some countries we also act under a power of attorney.

How long does it take?

Most airlines pay within 2 to 12 weeks. If we need to go to court, it can take 3 to 12 months. You can follow every step on your claim tracker.

Do I have to go to court?

No. We handle everything, including any court case, and you never need to appear.

The airline offered me a voucher. Should I accept?

You don't have to. Airlines may only pay in vouchers if you agree in writing. Compensation in money is your right.

Fees and payout

How much does it cost?

20% of the compensation, including VAT, only if we're successful. No extra fee for legal action, and nothing at all if the airline doesn't pay.

How do I get paid?

By bank transfer (IBAN) or PayPal. We pay within 48 hours of receiving the airline's payment and your payout details.

Can I withdraw my claim?

Yes, within 14 days of signing, free of charge, from your claim tracker or by email.
